Interpretative Literary Reading Competition 2024 "The poetry of Tasos Leivaditis"

On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5-6, 2024, the Interpretative Literary Reading Contest, co-organized by Athens College and Psychico College High Schools in collaboration with the 2nd Directorate of Secondary Education of Athens, was completed with great success. The Competition was addressed to students of all classes of General and Vocational High Schools of Attica.

The theme of this year's Competition was "The poetry of Tasos Leivaditis".

During the first round of the Contest, one hundred and twelve students from forty-five public and private schools in Attica presented the poems they had selected before a jury, consisting of the Teacher Counsellors of the schools participating in the Contest.

The ten students who achieved the highest overall scores, qualified to the second round of the Competition and presented their texts before a jury consisting of Mr. Kostas Angelakos, Professor of Pedagogy at the Department of History of the Ionian University, Mr. Konstantinos Markoulakis, actor and theater director and Mr. Neofytos Charilaou, Education Consultant of Philologists specializing in Modern Greek Philology.

The music program of the event included songs with poetry by Tasos Leivaditis and music by Mikis Theodorakis and classical music for cello and piano. The program was curated by teachers Eleftheria Vorria and Anna Laki from the Music Department of our School and the following students participated:  Athina Manolikakis, Areti Mavrogianni, Martha Papagiannaki, Spyros Tsokakis, Maro Fragaki, and Konstantinos Chondroudakis.

The students who distinguished themselves and received an award are the following:

1st prize:  Maria Kourtali (1st High School of Kifissia)

2nd prize:  Philippos Dukoglou (Anavryta High School & Giorgos Kostopoulos (Leonteios School of Nea Smyrni) (with an absolute tie)

3rd prize:  Zoe Rizou (1st High School of Papagos)
