Athens College High School student qualifies for 2nd round of Astronomy Competition

The Department of Economics of the University of Thessaly and the Association of Astronomy and Space organize the 28th Panhellenic Student Astronomy and Space Exploration Competition for academic year 2022-2023. 

The Competition is open to Junior High and High School students from all over Greece and has different themes. It has 3 rounds for the Junior High School and 3 rounds for the High School respectively. It is noted that in addition to knowledge of Astronomy, a basic knowledge of Mathematics and Physics is required for all High School students. 

1st Round

The 1st round called "ARISTARCHOS" was held online on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 9 -11 a.m.

2nd round 

The 2nd round called "HIPPARCHUS" was held in person at the University of Thessaly in Volos on Sunday, January 22 2023 at 12-3 p.m.

3rd round

The 3rd round called "PTOLEMAEUS" will be held on the weekend of February 25-26, 2023. This round is open to Junior High and High School students who will be selected for the Olympic Astronomy-Astrophysics team (Junior High) and Olympic Astronomy-Astrophysics team (Junior High) respectively. the 16 the International Astronomy-Astrophysics Olympiad 2023 will be held on August 20-23, 2023 in Poland. 

Athens College High School Grade 1 student Nikolaos Emmanouil Skevis qualified for the 2 nd round of the competition.
