Jun 24, 2026

On Thursday, June 18, and Friday, June 19, 2026, teachers at Psychico College Elementary School participated in four specialized training workshops of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). The aim of these sessions was to support their ongoing professional development and further enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

The workshops focused on key aspects of PYP philosophy:

  • Conceptual Understanding: Learning and Teaching for Conceptual Understanding, led by Suzanne Tomlinson, explored methods to foster conceptual understanding and deeper learning.

  • Assessment: Evidencing Learning, led by Maggie Hos-McCrane, emphasized assessment practices that effectively demonstrate and support students' learning progress.

  • Inquiry: Local & Global Inquirers, led by Kimberly Taylor,  focused on cultivating students' spirit of inquiry and connecting learning to local and global issues.

  • Transdisciplinarity – Connecting Subjects to Create a Coherent PYP Curriculum, led by Alena Casey, presented approaches for designing a coherent, fully transdisciplinary curriculum.

These workshops provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices, in line with our School's commitment to creating rich learning experiences that meet the needs of 21st-century learners.
