On Friday, April 24, 2026, students of Class B2 at Psychico College High School participated in an online lecture delivered by Dr. Athina Anastasaki, Associate Professor at ETH Zurich. The lecture, titled “Plastic Recycling Today,” was followed by a discussion with the students and the President of our School, Mr. Spiros Pollalis.

Dr. Anastasaki heads the Polymeric Materials Laboratory at ETH Zurich and has received numerous prestigious international awards. Her research focuses on the development of innovative chemical recycling methods aimed at producing materials that are fully integrated into the circular economy.

This meeting held particular educational value for our students, as it introduced them to contemporary scientific research on sustainable polymers and illustrated how chemical principles are applied to address critical environmental challenges. At the same time, students gained firsthand insight into the academic path and career progression of a world-renowned scientist, helping them better understand the demands and prospects of a high-level scientific career.
