From March 3 to 6, 2026, the annual educational trip to Germany took place successfully. Twenty students, members of the Astronomy and Space Club, accompanied by Mr. G. Karampatis, Ms. V. Dimou, and Mr. X. Rafios, had the unique opportunity to visit leading German and European institutions at the forefront of space research and scientific innovation.

On the first day, the group visited Cologne. A major highlight was the awe-inspiring Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), a masterpiece of Gothic architecture renowned for its twin towers rising 157 meters above the city. On the same day, the students also explored the Chocolate Museum and the Botanical Garden.

On the second day, Wednesday, March 4, the students toured the German Aerospace Center (DLR), a key hub for the safety of European space missions and a NASA partner in astronaut training. They also visited the Luna Center, a cutting-edge ESA training facility designed to simulate lunar conditions.

The following day, Thursday, March 5, the group admired significant works of contemporary and modern art at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne. Later, they traveled to Frankfurt, beginning with a guided tour of the medieval old town, followed by a visit to St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, historically known for the coronations of the Holy Roman Emperors. Their day ended in Frankfurt's modern financial district, home to many impressive skyscrapers.

On Friday, March 6, the students visited EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, one of Europe's most important organizations for satellite-based weather and climate monitoring. After this final stop, the group headed to the airport for their return flight. This trip was far more than an educational mission. The students deepened their appreciation for science, envisioned their future paths, and returned filled with inspiration. The experiences they shared will remain unforgettable, reminding them of the importance of exploring, learning, and daring.
