Psychico College High School - "Service as Action" initiative - Give books a second chance
On Thursday, February 19, the students of sections A7 and A8 of High School Grade 1 at Psychico College High School successfully completed a voluntary book-collection campaign, demonstrating in practice the value of reuse. As part of this initiative, the five-member class councils visited the secondhand bookstore "O Anestios," run by homeless individuals. There, they delivered the collected books and had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Leonidas Koursoumis, learning about the project's history and operations.
Through this experience, the students acted as active citizens, putting the principles of the circular economy into practice. Instead of simply recycling paper, they chose to extend the life cycle of objects, significantly reducing waste and their environmental footprint. The organization of the initiative helped cultivate cooperation, responsibility, and communication skills—strengthening their ecological awareness in an experiential and meaningful way.
Initiative organized by: Ms. E. Douladeli, Ms. N. Kanelli, and Mr. V. Dimopoulos.
