The students of Athens College Elementary School enthusiastically participated in the initiative of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature and WWF Greece, on the occasion of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025.

In their English class, students from Grades 1 to 6, under the guidance of their teachers, wrote letters and cards in English to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and COP30 President Corrêa do Lago. In their words, they expressed their concern and hope for a sustainable future, calling for bold, fair decisions to tackle the climate crisis.

The older students wrote individual or group letters, while the younger students sent their own messages through drawings. On Friday, October 31, 2025, the creations of hundreds of students from our school were delivered to the Brazilian Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Paulo Roberto Caminha de Castilhos França, by the English department teacher, Ms. Marianthi Giannakopoulou, who represented our school at this special meeting.

More than 5,600 students from 249 schools across Greece joined together to raise their voices for the environment. The students demonstrated a deep understanding of the climate crisis and dared to propose solutions, sending a strong message to world leaders: protecting nature is everyone's responsibility.
