Psychico College Elementary School Grade 1 - Visit to Zahaios Winery
On Monday, October 6, Grade 1 students embarked on their first educational trip of the school year, visiting the traditional Zahaios Winery.
During the visit, the children traveled back in time, learning experientially about the journey of grapes from the vineyard to their transformation into wine. They actively participated in the traditional crushing of the grapes, felt the coolness of the cellar, and gained a deeper understanding of the significance of wooden barrels in wine fermentation and aging.
They were particularly fascinated by must —the freshly crushed grape juice— from which they made and baked delicious must cookies.
The visit concluded with a puppet theater performance about winegrowing, which brought plenty of laughter and fun to the young students.
It was a constructive day filled with images, aromas, and knowledge that enriched experiential learning and fostered a greater appreciation for local traditions and culture.
