Class of 1976 Milestone 50Y Reunion
On June 16, 2026, Athens College President Professor Spiros N. Pollalis welcomed Class of 1976 back to campus to celebrate 50 years since graduation, along with former teachers and staff.
The commemorative evening featured a guided tour of the D.Daskalopoulos Arts Building -currently under development- led by classmate and donor Dimitris Daskalopoulos x76 together with FIORE Architects. D. Daskalopoulos shared his vision for the project's educational and cultural impact on the broader College family and society. President spoke about the building's purpose and future use, highlighting its role in promoting the arts and culture both within and beyond the School's curriculum.
Architects Florian Liakos, Irene Marcantonatou and Alexios Visvinis, co-founders of FIORE Architects, presented the design and showed alumni around the various spaces.
Dinner followed at the President's residence with a wine-tasting experience, a collectible 28-year-old Melchior bottle, offered by Dimitris Daskalopoulos x76, "as a tribute to friendship, to memory, to the privilege of being here today." Dinner was accompanied by a selection of wines from various regions of Greece, kindly provided by Ntinos Stergidis x76.
Class Agents Greg Mitsakopoulos '76 and Nikos Skayannis x76 took the opportunity to thank their classmates for coming and contributing to the class gift. They reflected on the enduring bonds that unite them with one another and with the School.
Later in the evening, Yannis Manuelides '76, President of the Student Council and his class and currently Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Athens College in Greece, shared memories, reflections, and wishes for the future. He also paid tribute to classmates who are no longer with us.
The President of the Athens College-Psychico College Alumni Association (SAKA) George Sakellariadis ’01 emphasized that SAKA has been a steadfast partner in supporting the School's mission. The President of the Alumni Fund Drive, Vassilis Pachiyannis ’86γ, congratulated the Class Agents on their outstanding efforts and highlighted the importance of collective alumni participation in strengthening the School.
Reunions provide a great occasion for classes and alumni to make an impact on future generations of students, just as others generously did for them. To mark the occasion, the Class of 1976 has created a lasting legacy by funding a full-tuition scholarship for a High School student for three years, as well as an additional scholarship to be awarded to a Class of 2027 graduate.
