Athens College President Professor Costas Synolakis ‘75 commented on the recent disastrous earthquakes that struck Turkey in an article in Kathimerini newspaper on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 titled: "With common sense in the application regulations we would have fewer victims". In his capacity as Professor of Natural Hazards and Chairman of the Greek National Committee on Climate Change, Mr. Synolakis warned that if humanity does not comply with regulations set by the scientific community, it will then be led to a global crisis much more serious and difficult to cope with than the one developing in Turkey.
