Gerasimos Alivizatos attended Athens College (x75) and graduated in 1979 from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a BSc in Physiology. In 1984, he completed his medical studies at the University of Athens and in 1992, after having completed his training, received his Doctoral Degree (MD, PhD), specializing in Urology. With a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation, he then had the opportunity to spend one year as a Fellow at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. From 1994 until 2008, he served in the 2nd Urology Department of Athens Medical School, Sismanoglio Hospital from which he departed as Associate Professor. Since September 2008, he is Director of the 3rd Urology Clinic of Hygeia Hospital.

From 1997 to 2011 he was Member and President of the examination committee of the European Board of Urology (EBU). For seven years, he was also a member of the European Association of Urology (EAU), which studies and issues guidelines to all European urologists on issues related to benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is the author and co-author of 67 peer reviewed publications (PubMed) and 10 chapters in various books.

He is President of the “Mantzavinateio” Public Benefit Foundation of Cephalonia and Vice-President of the “Friends of Hill School” Association.  He was elected a member of the HAEF Association (Somateio) in 2017 and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2019.
