Social outreach and solidarity are concepts inextricably linked to Athens College and its philosophy. Starting with the Scholarship Program, our School has a strong tradition of offering to the community.

Significant Student Community undertakings, such as the reconstruction and restoration of dozens of damaged schools in the provinces, donations of school supplies and equipment to those in need, the exchange of technological expertise with other schools and institutions, and support of vulnerable social groups further attest of the School’s legacy of giving.

Through social outreach programs, our students learn to help their fellow humans, broaden their horizons, develop empathy, and become aware of their responsibility as citizens towards society.

All community outreach activities are coordinated by the School's Department of Social Welfare and Diversity.

From Kindergarten through High School, our students engage in volunteer work organized by Clubs, the annual Expedition and the like, while simultaneously completing the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Action as Service elements of the International Baccalaureate.

Each year, our School collaborates with over 135 local and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), such as Greenpeace, The HOME Project, Axion Hellas, Association of Friends of Children with cancer “ELPIDA,” Make A Wish, Together for Children, WWF, The Church of Greece, the Jewish Museum of Greece and many more. Our students take initiative to confront and help allay crises both nationally and globally.

Social outreach activities constitute one of the most valuable experiences of our students and play a decisive role in shaping their character.  Our alumni often talk about the efforts they made together with their classmates to help all those in need and ultimately consider this as one of the most important lessons of their lives.
