Dear Parents,

After having submitted an Application for Admission into the 2021-2022 Pre-Kindergarten class (for candidates born in 2017), the process for admissions into “John M. Carras” Kindergarten’s Pre-Kindergarten is as follows:

1.   Lottery.  The draw for Pre-Kindergarten admissions will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021:

·     16:00 for children of Alumni

·     17:00 for General Admissions

Candidates whose name are drawn will be assessed by HAEF psychologists for Pre-Kindergarten readiness (as mentioned below).

2.   Lottery process.  Due to this year’s special circumstances, the draw will be held at “John M. Carras” Kindergarten by the Lottery Committee, without the presence of parents. It will, however, be livestreamed in such a way as to not display personal details of prospective students, nor that of their parents. At the scheduled times of the lottery, those interested will be able to view it live on the School’s website (www.athenscollege.edu.gr) without the need of a password.  During the lottery, only the individual protocol number assigned to each candidate will be displayed.  Those who have applied to take part in the lottery will receive their protocol number by email prior to the date of the lottery.  Either way, you will be notified by email of the lottery result.

3.   Lottery participation fee.  In order to take part in the admissions process you must deposit €60 into one of the HAEF bank accounts (attached) by Friday, January 29, 2021.  In the relevant field on the deposit form be sure to include the candidate’s full name and the word “ΠΡΟΝ” (Pre-Kindergarten).

4.   Admissions process – post lottery – and candidate’s assessment for Pre-K readiness:  Pre-requisite for the enrollment of candidates whose names were drawn for admission into Pre-K is the successful completion of the admissions process, which lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and entails the following:

            i.     Parents and their child are given a tour of the Kindergarten facilities (if pandemic conditions allow)
           ii.     Parents are informed about the curriculum
          iii.     The Student Record & Transcript Card is filled out by parents, which includes the following:

                ● Child’s personal information
                ● Child’s developmental history
                ● Child’s medical history

        iv.     Candidate’s readiness assessment. The assessment is carried out by HAEF psychologists. It last approximately 30΄ and includes activities centered on play.  Only the child, without the presence of his/her parents, participates in the assessment. Parents are informed of the results once the assessment has been completed. The manner in which the assessment will be carried out will depend on the prevailing conditions of the pandemic.

          v.     Form from Daycare Center or Preschool: Parents are given a form that is to be completed by the Daycare Center or Preschool that the child is attending. The form must be returned electronically to “John M. Carras” Kindergarten directly from the Daycare Center/Preschool.

        vi.     Meeting at “John M. Carras” Kindergarten.  On the day of the meeting, you will have to submit the following:

                a.  Two (2) passport/national ID size photographs of the child.
                b. The child’s Health Book or other document verifying that the child has received all vaccinations as provided for in the National Vaccination Program.  A copy of the relevant pages of the Health Book will remain at the disposal of the Kindergarten. A prerequisite for Kindergarten attendance is for the child to have gotten all required vaccinations and to be fully toilet (potty) trained.

5.   Lottery Participation Application.  If you wish your child to be entered into the lottery for admission into pre-kindergarten, kindly complete and sign the attached form (at the bottom of this page) and send it by email to [email protected] by Friday, January 29, 2021.

6.   Enrollment Rights.  Parents of children whose names are drawn are required to pay a Right of Enrollment fee in the amount of three hundred fifty euros (€350), which is not offset by tuition fees and is non-refundable.  This sum can be deposited once you have received an email from the Accounting Office with an invoice that includes a payment ID.  In order to have your payment ID issued you must contact Ms. Vasiliki Panaopoulou either by phone (210-6798105) or by email ([email protected]) in order to provide: your Tax Identification Number (AFM), your Tax Office (DOY), the first and last name of the parent responsible for tuition payments, as well as the full name of the other parent.

7.   Siblings. Student-candidates for the 2021-2022 Pre-Kindergarten class whose older sibling(s) attend the College do not take part in the lottery.  They can move directly to the assessment process, provided that there are no outstanding financial debts towards the College. Siblings who wish to take part in the admissions process must pay the €60 fee mentioned in field 1 and complete the attached form.
