Letter to Parents regarding Start of Academic Year 2021-2022

Sep 11, 2021

Psychico, September 10, 2021

Dear Parents,

As academic year 2021-2022 is about to commence, we wish to inform you that we will adhere strictly to all the health protection measures provided by the State so that the school year can be conducted safely for everyone in the school community.  In accordance with Joint Ministerial Decision Δ1α/Γ.Π.οικ.55254 regarding the operation of primary and secondary schools and measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19, please be advised that:

Α) The use of face masks (surgical or cloth with suitable specifications) is mandatory for all students, faculty members and other staff, as well as visitors to the school units in the following circumstances:

a) in all of the school units’ indoor spaces,

b) in all of the school units’ outdoor spaces,

c) in student transportation vehicles,

Masks are not obligatory during lunch/snack breaks and during PE lessons.  In these instances, necessary social distancing must be observed.

In the event that a student does not observe the mandatory face mask directive, then he/she will not be allowed to enter the classroom and will receive an absence for that class.  If a minor, the student will remain in a designated room, observing social distancing and other protection measures, until such time as his/her parents/guardians arrive to collect him/her.

Β) Starting Monday, September 13, 2021, students who have a certificate of vaccination or certificate of recovery from coronavirus  in the last six months arrive at School and show their certificate.

Screening for COVID-19 through a free self-diagnostic test is mandatory for students who do not present a certificate of vaccination or certificate of recovery in the last six months.  Obligatory, diagnostic self-tests must be performed twice per week, within the 24-hour period before arriving to school on Tuesdays and Fridays. The only exception is the first week of school when the diagnostic self-test must be performed in the 24hour period before the start of school on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Students who are required to perform the diagnostic self-test must show their negative test result upon entering school buses or when entering through the School gates.

C) In order to avoid crowding and mingling between High School students, the time table has been amended in order to provide for staggered breaks (see attached timetable).

D) Effective Monday, September 13, 2021, canteens and vending machines will operate according to protocols issued by the Health and Education Ministries. An additional point of sale for snacks has been set up by the Library, in the courtyard of Benaki Hall. At each point of sale, there will be special, clearly marked queue paths to avoid congestion.

We also wish to inform you that:

1. The Blessing Ceremony will take place on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 am in Choremi Auditorium without the physical presence of students. Instead, the ceremony will be livestreamed and students will follow it from their classrooms.  Due to State directives regarding the prevention of crowding, your attendance at this year’s Blessing Ceremony is not possible. However, should you wish to watch it online, please go to the following link: https://www.athenscollege.edu.gr/academics/blessing-ceremonies-nip-gym-lyk/

2. Attached to this letter are detailed announcements as well as the Registration form for after-school SAT classes that we offer to our students.

Lastly, we remind you that per Ministerial decision 61178/ΓΔ4/28-5-2021, the deadline to submit the affidavit requesting your child’s exemption from Religion classes has been extended to Friday, September 17, 2021.

We wish a productive, health and safe year to all.

Sincerely,

Christos I. Konstantopoulos
