Applying to Elementary School
At Athens College, we accept applications for student enrollment in grade 1 of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation’s Elementary Schools (Athens College or Psychico College) from the day of their birth up through the first ten days in January of the year the candidate is enrolled in Kindergarten.
We invite parents who submitted an application to renew their interest in having their child participate in the 1st Grade Lottery by visiting the Student Admissions Office any time in September and up through the last business day in October of the year the candidate is enrolled in Kindergarten.
The lottery drawing is held in January of the year during which the child attends Kindergarten. In order for the child to participate in the lottery process, parents must pay 60 Euros in advance to the College’s Accounting Office, in Psychico. Students who are accepted must successfully pass a school readiness assessment, administered by the College’s PsychoEducational Department.
The distribution of students admitted into the Elementary Schools of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (Athens College or Psychico College) is carried about the Administration. Once siblings are placed in the same school as their older brother/sister, the Administration then distributes the remaining students in alphabetical order, depending on available places by gender in each of the two schools.
Students in Athens College Elementary School grade 1 and those in Psychico College Elementary School grade 1 will complete their academic career in the same Elementary School, Junior High and High School as the one in which they were originally placed. A change in school may only occur if a student who has successfully completed Athens College High School grade 10 opts to join the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which is run by Psychico College High School.
